Kelly is best known for her role as cheerleader Lyla Garrity on the NBC critically acclaimed show Friday Night Lights. Although the show has suffered in the ratings it has a cult like following with fans and Minka is a huge part of that. With her beautiful looks and killer acting skills she quickly became a fan favorite. The Roommate is a 2011 thriller film directed by Christian E. Christiansen and starring Minka Kelly, Leighton Meester,Danneel Harris, Cam Gigandet, and Alyson Michalka. It was released in cinemas on February 4 2011.The film was shot on location at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.[3] Leighton Meester was originally set to play Sara but was replaced by Minka Kelly, then Meester took the role of Rebecca. Cam Gigandet and Alyson Michalka previously starred alongside each other in another Screen Gems film, Easy A. Nina Dobrev confirmed via Twitter that she filmed a scene, however the scene does not feature her The Vampire Diaries castmate, Katerina Graham, who also costars in the film.The film was originally planned to be released on September 17, 2010, but was moved to February 4, 2011.

Featured in the February issue of GQ, dates Derek Jeter, gets her first starring role this month in The Roommate, and has both brains and talent.

Last September it was reported that the Friday Night Lights star flipped out on a flight after attendants wouldn't allow her dog to stay with her in first class seating during take-off, and that she frantically called Jeter to ask for help.

Minka put that story to bed, telling GQ's Devin Gordon, "Do people think that somewhere in my brain, I think Derek can save me from someone telling me my dog can't fly? If that's the way I worked, he would have left me a long time ago."

She also clears thing up about speculation that the high profile couple is marrying in the coming month.

"I promise you, I'm not getting married in the next month," she says.

As for her spicy photo spread for Esquire, Minka explained, "I've never done a sexy photo shoot before. I've never really honestly tapped into that side. It was really liberating. It was exciting. I would look at the pictures, like, that's me?"

Ms. Kelly also noted that having a few years under her belt has helped her feel more free. "Done with the twenties. I'm confident — confident in my skin, and I'm cool with my flaws and all that stuff. It just feels nice to be at peace with yourself.
